Convert an Instagram Personal profile to a Business profile

Instagram offers three profile types: Personal, Business, and Creator. All Instagram accounts start as Personal by default, but you can convert a Personal or Creator profile to a Business profile at any time.

Due to Instagram limitations, you can only connect Business and Creator profiles to ChannelCore. Business profiles have access to the full Instagram functionality available in ChannelCore.

To use all of ChannelCore’s Instagram features, Meta requires that your Business profile be connected to a Facebook Page. You don’t need to publish to your Facebook Page when using Instagram, but the permissions required to manage your Instagram profile come from Facebook.

Before you begin

If you’re not sure what type of Instagram profile you have, open Instagram and go to Settings. Depending on your profile type, you’ll see one of the following:

Personal profiles – “Account types and tools”
Creator profiles – “Creator tools and controls”
Business profiles – “Business tools and controls”

To convert your Instagram profile, you’ll need:

A Facebook Page to connect your Instagram profile to. Only one Instagram profile can be connected to a Facebook Page, and vice versa. If you need to create one, see Create a Facebook Page.
The right permissions ( See your Facebook Page role or access):
- Full or partial control of the Facebook Page.
- Management access to the Page in your Business Manager account (see Add People to Your Business Manager).

Convert your Instagram profile to a Business profile

In the Instagram mobile app, go to your profile, then tap the menu (top right).
Tap Settings, then Account, and scroll to the bottom.
Depending on your current account type:
- Personal account – tap Switch to professional account, then choose Business.
- Creator account – tap Switch account type, then Switch to business account.
Follow Meta’s instructions to Connect your Facebook Page and Instagram account .

Once connected, return to ChannelCore and complete the Instagram connection flow to unlock analytics, publishing, and other Instagram features.
